The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) urges residents living in coastal areas to be alert to floods or tidal waves from June 4 to 10, 2024.

Jakarta BPBD Head, Isnawa Adji said BMKG Tanjung Priok Maritime Class I Meteorological Station regarding Early Warning for Coastal Floods (Rob) informed that the phenomenon of maximum sea water tide coincides with the Full Moon phase which has the potential to increase the maximum sea tide height in the form of coastal floods or robs in the northern coastal area of Jakarta.

Jakarta Coastal Residents Urged to Be Aware of Tidal WaveHe explained residents of the northern coastal areas of Jakarta such as Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, Kalibaru, and Muara Angke were urged to anticipate the impact of maximum tides of sea water which have the potential to cause coastal flooding.
He added the public can monitor the latest information regarding sea waves on the page bpbd.jakarta.go.id/gelombanglaut.
"If you find an emergency that requires help, immediately contact the Jakarta Siaga 112 Call Center," he stated.
